Special guests at the Troy event on Oct 26 -  Christy McDonald and Melissa Roy

Christy McDonald is the anchor and moderator of MiWeek, a weekly news and political analysis show on WTVS - Detroit’s PBS.  She has appeared on CNN and the PBS NewsHour as a special correspondent reporting on Detroit’s financial crisis, Michigan politics, and 2016 Presidential election.

An Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter, McDonald grew up in Troy and is a graduate of Troy High School. She is also a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College.

Melissa Roy leads Advancing Macomb with a focus on unified economic and community development for Macomb County. She sees greater success for Macomb and the greater Detroit Region by building on, investing in and marketing local economic, community and natural resource assets. With a career centered on public policy and economic development throughout the Detroit area, Ms. Roy’s current work on growing Macomb locally is also met with a charge to provide a greater intra-regional connection with the city of Detroit and surrounding communities.

Special guests at the Lansing event on Nov 13 -  Rick Pluta and Dennis Muchmore

(Please note new date for this event)

Rick Pluta will be joining us for a Q&A at the Lansing event on NOVEMBER 13 (please note new date). As a reporter and producer from the Michigan Public Radio Network, Rick has been covering Michigan’s Capitol, government, and politics since 1987. His journalism background includes stints with UPI, The Elizabeth (NJ) Daily Journal, The (Pontiac, MI) Oakland Press, and WJR.

He co-hosts the weekly segment “It’s Just Politics” on Michigan Radio with Zoe Clark.

Rick is fascinated by the game of politics, and the grand plans and human foibles that go into policy-making.

Dennis Muchmore spent his career helping transform Michigan through roles in the public and private sector, including five years as Gov. Rick Snyder’s chief of staff, joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, in 2016. At Honigman, Muchmore leads the firm’s Government Relations and Regulatory Practice Group. Muchmore is a member of the board of directors of GreenStone Farm Credit Services, and has held a variety of prominent positions in Michigan, including founding the lobbying firm Muchmore Harrington Smalley & Associates, serving as executive director of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs, vice president of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and a member of the Board of Trustees of Oakland University.
