Map: Use this tool to get information from Michigan governments

Bridge Magazine reporting partner WDET, Detroit’s Public Radio station, created an online map to help southeast Michigan residents file Freedom of Information Act requests.

While it’s limited to Metro Detroit, it’s a handy tool for those seeking information from municipalities there.

Click on the community and follow the first link for a request form or e-file directly. Municipalities in blue allow users to e-file requests; those in green have online forms to download and email; while those in orange have no information on their websites about FOIA.

The map was compiled with help from Wayne State University School of Information Science students Joseph Gross and Heather Levrant.
