Refugees in Michigan by the numbers

Refugees

Refugees from six of the seven countries named in President Trump’s immigration order (all but Libya) have arrived in Michigan over the last 15 years.

Using data from The Refugee Processing Center, which is operated by the U.S. Department of State, Detroit public radio station WDET, a partner in the Detroit Journalism Cooperative, charted the numbers of people who have arrived in the Mitten State as refugees.

Refugees are people who are “fleeing conflict or persecution,” according to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees.
