Join Bridge Lunch Break discussion on elder caregiving

November lunch break

Bridge Michigan invites readers to join us Tuesday, Nov. 16, for the latest in our monthly Bridge Lunch Break series. We will discuss Michigan's elder caregiving crisis and potential solutions, including what challenges of paid and unpaid elder caregivers, what the shortage of caregivers means for the state, training for family members who find themselves thrust into (but unprepared for) a caregiving role and an examination of policy-oriented solutions.

This event is in partnership with the New York & Michigan Solutions Journalism Collaborative, which was formed this year by more than 30 media, academic and community organizations, including Bridge Michigan. This project is supported by the Solutions Journalism Network.

We’ll be joined by Paula Duren, founder of Universal Dementia Caregivers; Christine Vanlandingham, chief operating officer for the state’s Region IV Area Agency on Aging; and Dr. Clare Luz, associate professor at the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This hour-long discussion will be moderated by Bridge Michigan reporter Ted Roelofs and will take place from noon to 1 p.m.

Please fill out our Lunch Break registration form to be sent a calendar invitation to the event, including the Zoom link. This registration form also includes an opportunity to submit questions for our guest speakers. Pull up a chair, grab your lunch and join us for this interesting and interactive discussion.

Bridge’s Lunch Break monthly series focuses on timely topics facing our state. Previous discussions this year include Bridge’s coverage plans for 2021, coronavirus vaccine distribution, openness in Michigan government, COVID-19’s impact on higher education, the status of Michigan’s redistricting process, Michigan’s recent labor pipeline struggles, the impact of climate change in Michigan, youth mental health in Michigan Bridge’s tenth anniversary, and COVID mandates and K-12 education
