Bridge Culture Club’s next selection is ‘American Salvage’
We are resuming Bridge Book Club in February, with a brand-new name. This event series is now titled Bridge Culture Club, because we've heard reader feedback and want to expand our event series to include additional media, including film and podcasts.
However, for February, we are sticking with our tried and true medium — an excellent, Michigan-focused book. We will be reading “American Salvage," by Bonnie Jo Campbell. We are fortunate to be joined by Campbell for our discussion of the book!
“American Salvage” is a moving, sometimes inspiring, sometimes heartbreaking collection of short stories set in rural Michigan, where wildlife, jobs, and ways of life are vanishing. “American Salvage” is part of Wayne State University Press' Made in Michigan Writers Series.

Please bring your lunch and join Bridge Book Club to discuss the book on Zoom from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m Feb. 17. You’ll have an opportunity to submit questions for Campbell during the event. Bridge membership and engagement director Amber DeLind will moderate this discussion.

How to take part in the online discussion
Please join our closed Facebook group by clicking here to participate in weekly discussions of the book in the lead-up to our Zoom event. Bridge staff will approve your membership in this closed group.
Over the next several weeks, we will post discussion questions about sections of the book’s chapters, and group members will be invited to interact with our team and with one another. See the box above for a schedule.
Participation in these weekly discussions is not required to participate in the Zoom discussion.
We’ve been there for you with daily Michigan COVID-19 news; reporting on the emergence of the virus, daily numbers with our tracker and dashboard, exploding unemployment, and we finally were able to report on mass vaccine distribution. We report because the news impacts all of us. Will you please support our nonprofit newsroom?
